Back to Plants in My Backyard

  • Plants in this area need to be kept moist. Trying to maintain habitat for Spotted march frogs that inhabit this area due to high moisture due to rainwater tank.
  • 19 Feb 2022 - planted Spiny-headed mat-rush (Lomandra longifolia x 3 plants. Large tussock with strap-like leaves. Prefers moist, well drained soils. Sunny or semi-shaded environment. Tube stock from La Trobe nursery.
  • 19 Feb 2022 - planted Short-Stem Sedge (Carex breviculmis) x 4 very close to rainwater tanks to provide habitat for Spotted March frogs. These plants don't mind the shade. Prefer dry to moist soils. Will only grow to 15-30cm in height and width. Tube stock from La Trobe nursery.
