BirdNET-Pi installation Dec 2023

Installation Process

• Download Raspberry Pi Operating System images - Raspberry Pi OS (Legacy) Lite - 64 bit - Debian version: 11 (bullseye)
• Install on SSD using Raspberry Pi installer software
• Using setup in Raspberry Pi installer
  • Set username and password - e.g. birdnetpi55
  • Set hostname to be the same
  • Set Wifi to home Wifi (home internet router)
  • Install OS Software
• Boot up OS on a Rapsberry Pi
• Login using username and password
• Update libraries with sudo apt update
• Upgrade software with sudo apt full-upgrade -y. Note that no software was upgraded
• Install BirdNET-Pi software with command

curl -s https://raw.githubusercontent.com/mcguirepr89/BirdNET-Pi/main/newinstaller.sh | bash

• To change internet access use sudo raspi-config

sudo raspi-config

Completing Installation

• Ensure all computers are on the same WiFi network.
• Find IP address of BirdNET-Pi computer
• Enter IP address on remote computer
